The most interesting and important of all early chess pieces are the Isle of Lewis Chessmen. The pieces were found in 1831 in an underground chamber on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis. They have been attributed to Scottland and date back to the 12th century. Made of bonded marble and araldite. Pieces range from 2-5" in height. Recommended for a 22-24" board.
